We were inspired to name this building FarmWell to honor the local history of Ashburn. Ashburn was originally named Farmwell after a 1,236 acre plantation and mansion owned by George Lee. He referred to this plantation as Farmwell in his 1802 will. Railroads and dairy farms were prominent in the area. In 1986 the Farmwell Post Office changed it’s name to Ashburn because there were concerns that mail would be mistakenly delivered to the Farmville Post Office in Prince Edward County.
